I agree with what you are saying.  I for one am very new to 3D and LW.  I
have asked some very basic questions on the IRC channel that a few have been
lead to the idea that I have an illegal copy.  It was very easy for them to
prove if I had a manual or not.  The asked me what was on this page 3 word
or something like that.  But in the long run I would rather if instead of
telling me step by step over the channel if that actually would give me a
page number.  I can then look at the books description, try some things out
on my own, and then come back with a more complex question.  Plus because of
the MANY different ways of doing the same thing some people might get
confused by people telling them how to do things in so many different ways.
I support and incourage people to respond with "RTFM"(if to no one else me
at least:)) but It might be helpful if you could take a moment to help find
a good place for that person to start in the manuals(god only knows it at
least for me is impossible to find some specific things in the manuals) with
a page number for them to look at.  You will then be helping the people who
bought LW at the same time not giving a shread of help the pirates.
